Unfortunately often they don't. You are probably more likely to get the D102 one recognised than the cortisol one because a genetic test is less likely to be considered inaccurate. Your doctor probably doesn't even know what the D102 test is or means. The irony of this situation is that they won't recognise a private test even when it is done by the same lab as they use!

But you may be lucky and find a doctor who appreciates the opportunity to save time and money by accepting the private test results. They should do - after all this is the 21st century!

My GP more than happy to accept my results. Saves them money and NHS doesn't test FT3 (even if patient is on T3)

Both GP and endo extremely interested in DIO2 gene test results

I always give them official printed copy of tests and spreadsheet showing changes over time. Clearly illustrates dropping antibodies at every test since gluten free. As NHS also refuse to repeat antibodies testing more than once, they never get to see this benefit of gluten free diet.

Vitamin tests also important too

Cortisol saliva tests are less likely accepted. Though you see them used by Dr Chatergee on TV.

NHS doesn't offer them as option

Hi SlowDragon

I had the D102 test done and it states I should be given a trail of T3 but no ones listening. Hopefully this 3rd Endo will listen when i see him in April...Gosh what a mess were in with this cheap govt hey Lol :)

That should be DIO2 - three letters and a number. (Not a letter and three numbers.)

We all understand, but if you discuss with a medic. it really is a good idea to get it right. If you don't they can instantly dismiss you and what you are saying.

They do recognize private tests.

You just need to be assertive and don't let them fob you off. The best I found is to let your GP know in writing (signed for) attaching results so they can't wriggle out and you have evidence in case for future.

They will however repeat tests where and if possible under NHS care.
