Hi Poppyrocks 369

What is the TSH normal range value you were given with this test?

Have you had any other test results i.e T3/ T4/ Ferritin/ B12/ Vit. D?

0.04-4.5 for TSH and ft3 and ft4

11 and 17 respectively I have had the others done and all were within normal ranges

100mcg levo and 20 mcg t3 split morning and pm retest 3 months

Hi Popyrocks369

If this is the case, your TSH is very high!

I have had a TSH of 74.4 when I was first diagnosed, and felt awful! I was sleeping for 16-18 hours a day; freezing cold; unable to concentrate or engage in normal activity.

I TSH over 10 is high and will likely give you a lot of the symptoms!

Your T3/T4 ratio is .65. A ratio over 4 is indicative that that you are not converting enough T4 to active T3.

Hope that answer's some of your questions.

I am so sorry to hear you are feeling like this. Sorry to ask a few more questions but:

- How long have you been on T4 and T3 replacement?

- How long have you has hypo symptoms/ had a diagnosis?

- How are you taking your medication? i.e morning/ eve/ fasting?

- Is there anything else you have tried? Vitamins/ Diet changes

As Nanaedake suggested below it is a big adjustment for your body and takes time to stabilise.

It’s ok , I’ve been on t4 t3 cimbination for only 2 1/2 weeks . I was diagnosed as hyper in 2011 and couldn’t control it so had Radio iOdine treatment , then went hypo and have not really felt well since . I was on 125mcg levo for around 2 years and no improvement . So I searched out NDT and tried that - I felt a little better on this but did t have my GP support so felt scared was doing wrong thing. I then found a Prof in endocrinology and saw him on 26 jan who started me on this . My last bloods were the ones I gave earlier . I take my t4 and half t3 in morning before I eat and the other 1/2 in the afternoon around 230 as I feel I need it - just feel like my battery dies 😳

I've had tsh in the hundreds and felt awful.

It's not a bad dose so can take a few months to sink in although do agree that should have really been six weeks with tsh so high but then again, mine always take 3 months to stabilise.

Also get all your nutritional tests done - B12, Vit D, Folate and Iron/ferritin as many of us are quite deficient which doesn't help.

What has your GP given you for your high TSH level? What instructions have you been given about taking levothyroxine and retesting?

100mcg levo and 20 mcg t3 split morning and pm retest 3 months

I would not leave it 3 months to retest. Retest in 6 - 8 week's time and adjust dose if you need to. Going straight onto 100mcg levo and 20mcg of T3 is quite a big adjustment for your body so it will take a while to adjust. Patients are usually started on smaller doses and work up to a higher dose but if you're fit, young and otherwise healthy then your doctor may have judged it to be fine.

Its so awful isn’t it - I hope you are well at the moment though x

Yes thanks but it took around 12 months for most symptoms to go,levo caused angina type pains so put on beta blockers which had to be increased twice thus needing more levo. Balance was poor, needed a stick on garden steps , but B12 has sorted that.
