Hi I am new and my GP has suggested I restart T3 so I have been taking it since Saturday. I am currently on 50mcg levothyroxine and 5mcg T3, already noticing an improvement in symptoms. I was diagnosed hypothyroid in 2012. Thank you for reading

Restarting T3 - hopeful
Katy7,
It can be very difficult for members to get T3 prescribed so it's great your GP is in favour. I hope it continues improving your symptoms.
Welcome to our forum and am glad your doctor is giving you T3 to your T4. Researchers have shown that a combination of T4/T3 is best for many patients.
Your dose is quite low for someone diagnosed in 2012 so I hope your GP is aware that we feel best when TSH is 1 or lower with Free T4 and Free T3 in the upper part of the range. The latter two are rarely tested.
I am glad you are feeling an improvement with T3.
All blood tests for thyroid hormones have to be at the earliest (TSH drops throughout the day) fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours from your last dose and the test and take afterwards. This helps prevent the doctor adjusting dose unnecessarily.
He should also test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate as we can be deficient.
Always get a print-out of your results, with the ranges, for your own records and post if you have a query. Ranges differ in labs that's why ranges are important for comments.
