Sore throat

I’m on Carbimazole and I have developed a slight sore throat today. Is it something to worry about or not as my fiancé has recently had a cold?

Speak to a doctor at your surgery tomorrow. If the sore throat gets much worse today go to A&E as you will need to stop taking Carbimazole temporarily if white blood cell count is low.

Hello Lisa, I've got the same advice from the MD when under similar treatment. There is a small risk of agranulocytosis, which symptom might be sore throat. If it gets worse go to the ER, explain your treatment and ask for a blood count.

Again, it's a rare but serious occurrence and you need to be careful.

You must go and get your blood checked so they can have a look at what your white blood cells are doing, it is probably nothing but it is better to be safe.!!
