You need an iron panel and full blood count to see of there is any iron deficiency anaemia, if so treatment should be 3 X Ferrous Fumerate daily and each tablet should be taken with 1000mg Vit C to aid absorption and help prevent constipation, and you should take iron 4 hours away from thyroid meds and 2 hours away from any other medication and supplements as it affects their absorption.
With that level of Ferritin I would be asking for an iron infusion anyway.
Eating liver regularly, maximum 200g a week, will also help raise your Ferritin level.
You need to discuss with your GP and maybe get a referral to a haematologist. If you were under one before, they often say to refer the patient back if ferritin falls below 50.
I have a similar ferritin level, been that way for years. I take ferrous sulfate, 325mg at night with 1,000 mg of vit C. I ask my Dr who is also a cadiologist but he dosen`t seem too concerned. I feel OK so I quit worrying about it. I was using 500mg but getting constipation problems. Now with 1,000mg + rose hips no more constipation. I am 70 years old and my thyroid was removed a few years ago during an operation on my parathyroids.
