Swapping meds

Hi there. I've currently been on 4.5 nature throid but since the shortage I've had to order thyroid s.

Now that's come today and I'm wondering if there's any rules in changing medication??? Can I do I straight swap the next day and does anybody know if I'll need to stick to the same dosage

You can swap straight over to 4.5 grains Thyroid-S.

I do a gradual swap substituting a quarter of a grain for a couple of days, then half a grain for a couple of days and continue like that until I'm on the new brand completely. I wasn't told to do this but do it just because I sometimes get bad reactions from different meds and prefer to introduce anything gradually. I found that NatureThroid was less strong than Thyroid-S, or perhaps I didn't absorb it as well and there was a thread on here a while ago about that too. Depending on your dose you may find that you need slightly less now or you may need the same, it's a case of just seeing how you get on.

Why not start on 2 grains and increase every 10 days until raising again by 1/2 and so on. Your body would then have a little time to get used to it at a decreased rate. It's up to you.
