If my thyroid keeps improving from Levo + I’m doing an ancient breathing yoga (tell me if you guys want a link) that will bring thyroid function back to normal,
Will this hair get better? Like thicker, maybe more coverage etc.?
Want your guys opinion

Hi - if your hair loss is due to hypothyroidism and/or nutrient deficiencies associated with it rather than genetic, then correcting all of these should at very least arrest loss and, probably, increase the volume again over a period of time.
But that would require a bit of information for us, a bit of learning for yourself, a fair degree of commitment to becoming your own health advocate and to correct any deficiencies, quite possibly some dietary restrictions and time. You didn't become hypo or acquire all the associated issues overnight and they won't go away overnight either.
First off - you need to have a full panel of blood tests, including tsh, ft4, ft3, TpoAb, TgAb, vit d, vit b12, folate and ferritin. You need to post them along with their ranges, should look something like this TSH 4.8 (0.2-4.2), and we can then advise. Without these numbers, any advise would be guesswork only.
Second, you need to learn more about hypothyroid and its management. A good place for the basics is our parent website thyroiduk.org. Go down left hand side to find something like "about the thyroid" and start reading. There are many other good sources, if you start reading other posts in this forum you will find reference to them. You will find a female bias, however, as something like 70%+ of all with hypo are female, please ignore this, all material also applies to men!

Don't worry about your loss of hair just keep on with the breathing it's great for the body.
I try not to worry about, believe me it’s been a tough ride. Less worried now bc I feel my hair is shedding less and less ever since I started taking Levo properly without iron.
Could be low testosterone levels, have you looked into this and had that tested?

You are a wonderful 20 year old when you get to my age 71 nothing but feeling good matters. In the mean time things will sort out use your breathing to de stress.
I think your hair loss is caused by androgenic alopecia ( male pattern baldness) and not by thyroid. Having a thyroid problem can make androgenic alopecia worse but is not the cause. It is genetic and is caused by androgens in the blood ( free testosterone) which convert to DHT on the scalp and cause the hair follicles to minimise and fall out.
Yes and you have my sympathy. But looking at your photo your hair loss does seem even on both sides and not patchy. So looks like androgenic alopecia. If you have an autoimmune thyroid disease this will affect your hormonal balance and that will increase hairloss. Also stress can trigger hairloss such as the type you describe. You really need the advice of a tricologist who will take a biopsy of your scalp and advise you how to manage your hairloss. Best of luck.
Hypothyroid and associated deficiencies can cause hair loss and/or thinning in anyone, male or female. My hair had been thinning badly prior to diagnosis, but has recovered since. Since you have already noticed a change since taking levo properly, chances are good that it can be addresses. Get us those numbers, then we can advise properly, rather than taking stabs in the dark.
I think Petal may be correct. Did your mother's father have a very receding hairline? Look up DHT Blockers. There are herbs to try although propecia works it has side effects.
Good, then maybe it is thyroid. Have you thought of adding T3 to your Levo which doesn't provide all the hormone you may need. If an increase in Levo doesn't work, consider T3.
The NHS is notorious for NOT testing FT3 and NOT adding T3 to levo if you are in the UK. Let us know how you make out, you can do some of this on your own if necessary I think.
Are you taking any medication for Hypo symptoms? A low zinc level can easily cause loss of hair. It can be obtained from foods or supplement take with copper because they work together in the body.
Hi, I don't know if I am allowed to mention a product on here, but my hair was really thin, I hated it, you could see my scalp all over. I found a product called hair fix, look on the Internet and in a few months, my hair was growing back in places I thought it never would. Andeverything about it has improved
They do a range of products that last for ages and they are not horrendously expensive like some.
