Hi ya, I've been feeling really rubbish on and off for the last 5yrs. This recent bout I've been off work for a month. I requested a T4 test and it came back today with a score of 11. Dr seemed to think this was normal, yet my sister has exactly the same number and has been prescribed Thyroxin, should I get a second opinion

There should be a TSH result as well as Free T4. If you post your results and include the reference ranges (usually in brackets after the result) then members can comment. Without the ranges the numbers mean nothing and the result can't be interpreted.
For example
TSH: 2.5 (0.2-4.2)
FT4: 11 (12-22)
If your sister didn't have her tests done by the same lab then the ranges could be different as they vary from lab to lab.
Thanks I will post up results tomorrow as I need to get them printed out
Hi there i think the forum will want abit more info from you like all your blood results , tsh, free 4 and free 3 if you had that done and any other tests as iron levels but they will need free4's lab range and a tsh is helpful so they can give you the best info.x😊
For full evaluation you ideally need TSH, FT4, FT3, TT4, TPO and TG antibodies, plus vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested
See if you can get full thyroid and vitamin testing from GP. Unlikely to get FT3
Private tests are available

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have money off offers.
All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH and most consistent results
