I have been on levothyroxine Sod. for many years, but now I cannot tolerate the side effects, especially the headaches and the buzzing in my left ear. I'm looking for a natural alternative to levothyroxine, but not the pig's medication. I just fear that since I'm allergic to pork, it might not be good for me. How about kelp - does anyone think it's a good alternative?

Thanks

Have you had your Levo brand changed, if so is that when the side effects started? If so then ask to go back to previous brand.

Kelp is not a good idea, it's iodine and that's not a good idea for us hypos as it can make it worse, iodine used to be used to treat hypERthyroidism.

Hypomae,

There is a bovine NDT - ThyroGold which you might try. You can email Tammy Lowe for advice on what dose to take when switching from your current Levothyroxine dose. naturalthyroidsolutions.com...
