I have a underactive thyroid and take 200mcg a day. Booked in for a operation on Monday and sadly been told I can't have it because of my thyroid levels
My test was a free T4... and says 10.010
What does this mean??? Many thanks

Do you possibly have a print-out (or get a copy from doctor) of your whole test results, with the ranges that you can post for comments.
We need more information. Do you always get the earliest possible blood test, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours between last dose of levo and the test and take it afterwards
Don't worry. All of us on this forum were new at one time and we knew little as we depended on doctors/endocrinologists but in the end had to learn the hard way that they were not knowledgeable at all about diagnosing/treating people who were hypo.
To make sense of the result we really need the reference range.
In the UK, the bottom of range could be from 7 to 12, so 10.010 could be below range - or in range albeit low.
Your dose is towards the high end so a low result for a Free T4 test is a little surprising. Do you take your levothyroxine with water and well away from food, drinks (other than water), supplements and other medicines? Are you taking any other medicines?
I may say the same. But in my case I have been struggling wuth hypothidoidism for more than 15 years until very recently. With all I learned from here I was lucky to find a doctor that is on the same page as members in this community and prescribed me NDT. Since the 19th December I am better than never in spite of Lupus which I also believe I am fighting successfully in a holistic approach. Hope you find your way too. Best wishes ×
Since the age of 2I, i had terrible pain could hardly walk and felt so tierd no energy.
It went on for a few months and felt worse so I went to the Drs.
They tested me for all sorts...including leukimia, rheumatoid arthritis and more.. being pulled from pillar to post after months a Dr (specialist) who has never seen before did tests and said u had a underactive thyroid.. to which I was out on medication straight am away and have been in for the following 24 years
Most of the time Ok, occasionally changing doses with blood test results.
But the last year I have struggled being out on a dose of 200mcg a day.
Hence the result in my form above....
I am seeing my gp tomorrow so hope fully I will get some help?
Thank you everyone for your kind and helpful comments..
I need to look at a diet also I have never been told anything about this before....
