My doctor said, I just have to wait till is really burn out. But the experience is really overwhelming. Is that true? If you have Hashimoto, and the symptom of hypothyroidism develop. You can't take any medication till the level of the hormones start to fail?
I would appreciate if somebody with Hashimoto share with me some information about this.

What amaze me is how hashimoto is quickly affecting me, the lump in my throat has gotten big in just a few days, my thyroid is very swollen. I can not even speak normally. Have to make pauses and it's hard to swallow saliva. I wonder, is this normal? so quickly, so painful. In this early stage of the disease? My thyroid hormones are still normal so I can't take any medication yet, that's what my doctor said. So what then?
For all thyroid issues, I urge you to see an endocrinologist. Thyroid affects your entire body. only an endocrinologist has the necessary knowledge to treat the thyroid and parathyroid glands.
Im no expert but i think i would want to see a endo aswell, i do have hashis aswell as hyPOthyroid but were hyPER back in november, hashis is horrid and i too had swallowing difficulty and felt like i was choking, ive had a ultrasound which shows nodules and a thickening of tbe isthmus etc which is in keeping with hashis.i have been quite poorly throughout the months aswell and it is overwhelming as the symptons are not nice edsecially the hyper swings too. Sorry i dont know about the last of your questions but im sure others will help.🎄
There is no cure or treatment for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it eventually causes. You won't have to wait until it burns out but you will have to wait until it has damaged your thyroid so that your thyroid levels become low. NHS won't usually diagnose and treat hypothyroidism until TSH is over range or FT4 below range. You should have thyroid function tests at least annually, more often if TSH is already elevated.
Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.
Thanks for the info. I’ve been receiving messages intended for other people. I’ll have 4 or 5 reply’s when I log in. But they should have gone to another person. I only hit the green reply button, once, and the submit reply button when I’m not done. I don’t think it’s me. Just don’t want to take other peoples messages away from them. This is such a great site.
