After 6 years on Mercury Pharma T3 have just been dispensed Teva for the first time. As it took 5 years to get stable I’m a bit apprehensive to say the least. Are people finding the two brands are the same or am I likely to have to make a dose adjustment?

People are not doing well on it. (Not my experience as I use UniPharma, but a few people have complained on here - try the search bar.) Well the newer lactose free formula. Can you not request MP only in the future or take your prescription elsewhere.
Thanks for your reply EbonyEvans. Yes I may have to go elsewhere. I picked prescription up late yesterday and didn’t realise it was different until I got home. Immediate problem is instructions indicate need to dissolve in water if taking less than a tablet. Really not very convenient in the middle of a working day. I have three months supply and anticipate they won’t change it. I was really .... off with the pharmacist who said ‘this is one of the drugs that’s being stopped, we’ll try to get a repeat prescription for you next time but it might not be provided next time’ while looking real smug. I replied ‘it’s not being indiscriminatorily stopped’ to which he looked even smugger! I feel like reporting him for saying that to me just before Christmas when it’s weeks before a GP appointment will be available.
After quite some time on Mercury Pharma T3, I was given Morningside T3 two months ago. It seemed ‘stronger’ and I was fine on it. Last month I was given Teva T3. I asked for it to be changed to Morningside but Boots has none in stock. I decided to try the Teva, it also seems stronger than Mercury Pharma and I’ve had to reduce my dose but I feel fine on it and have actually lost some weight!
Thanks Chunkpet. Losing some weight would be welcome. I just have to be careful as very prone to palpitations. Do you have to cut the tablets? If so are you dissolving in water as per instructions. I travel around with my job and it really isn’t convenient to be doing this.
I’m also prone to palpitations but I’ve found that it’s T4 that causes mine. I now stick to Actavis. I thought I’d try out the different T3s to see how I got on. I found Mercury Pharma was quite poor, weak and usually almost out of date. I sourced some Cynomel from Mexico as a back-up in case my nhs T3 was stopped and it’s very good. The new uk ones seem stronger and have long dates.
I use a pill cutter which I got at Boots to cut the tabs into halves and quarters - not always brilliantly but I guess it evens out over 24 hours. I don’t have the patience to faff about with diluting them in water, I just take them as they are!
One or two have said they like it and remember people don't moan on forums when things are working well but they rarely shout that from the roof tops either. Generally it's always advised to stick with the same medication as potency can be a problem plus you may be given one where the different fillers upset you.
Thanks Silverfox7. I don’t think I have a problem with fillers but always had a problem with Levothyroxine containing Stearic Acid - but a Potency problem - seemed to just not work. I may start Teva for one dose a day first and see what happens. Mine were from Boots and I see on another thread it’s Boots that are supplying Teva.
