My best wishes for Christmas and 2018

First of all, a Happy Christmas to all who administer and contact TUK. Since beginning some years ago to realise that there is a large minority of patients who cannot tolerate T4 only therapy, I've been happy to help probe into the problem and discover exactly why the minority exists, what the implications are for diagnosis and therapy, the failure of the TSH test alone to monitor therapy and that patients are unique individuals that each require personal advice and treatment. In this respect, the whole of the present guidelines on diagnosis and treatment need a basic shakeup and restart from the beginning. I'm hoping that with the impetus of our upcoming review which summarises the whole position and its implications (abstract already in Frontiers in Thyroid Endocrinology) 2018 can at last be the year in which the real facts are laid down in public as a challenge to the old thinking and progress made. It must be researchers, supporting doctors and not least you the public who must lead the challenge. As much publicity as possible in whatever medium. The naysayers are going to succeed in delay only by turning their heads away and stopping their eyes and ears. Which they must be pulled up for and not allowed to get away with that attitude.

A very Happy Christmas to you too Diogenes.

Thank you for your scientific input which is greatly appreciated. I totally agree with an individualised approach.

I hope for better guidelines on how to treat hypothyroidism after thyroid cancer too so here's hoping 2018 will be a year of discovery and acceptance of new approaches!!

Thank you Diogenes and your fellow Thyroid experts for all that you do to promote sensible Thyroid testing regimens and treatment. We will be making as loud a noise as we can next year because the insanity of t4 monotherapy must stop for those who do not do well on it.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you.

Thank you Diogenes for being a steady voice of reason against the tide of nonsense told by majority of medics that T4 mono therapy is the only answer for everyone. It clearly does not suit a large number of patients

We look forward to more clear thinking and scientific research in 2018

Wishing you Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year

Thank you for all you research and support

I will merely reply: stuff happens. Not Diogenes's stuff, not Vanderpump's stuff, to make an example for the "opposition". Your are right in this or you are wrong. It's possible to be nearly completly right or wrong, but that can't be far away from the truth, only wrong in details which doesn't alter the main message. That's how honest science progresses. Personalities count for nothing.

Definitely true and thanks for your post diogenes and wish you and your Team/families All The Best for Christmas and 2018.

Behind you and your team are the 'warriors' who will be ready to take up the challenge against the very wrong diagnoses/treatment by those who aren't scientists and have no practical knowledge and are dismissive of the patients' suffering and arrogant.

They do not seem to have knowledge of the very basic clinical symptoms of which patients complain. Instead they prescribe anti-d's and anything else to keep the patient quiet who cannot get back to a healthy life and probably lost jobs/families etc.

They must only have wanted a 'successful career' by stepping over many very unwell patients - we now know to avoid a specialist or doctors who tells us we are 'normal' despite clear signs that we are anything but.

Thankfully, researchers who think like you and your team will overcome those who cannot admit they are wrong.
