Welcome to the forum, Loraine_Tarin.
Can you post your thyroid results and ranges? If your thyroid levels are low your doctor should prescribe Levothyroxine while you are waiting for referral to endocrinologist.
The Dr said to continue taking Levothroxine 112MCG. For mean time. And thyroid results were 2 nodules on left side and I did T4 FREE. RESULTSUNITS 0.5 ng/dL flag L. range 0.8-1.8
Thyroid peroxidase
TSH result units 88.24 mlU/L Flag H
Thyroid Anti-bodies result
units 4 lU/ mL FLg H Range <or=1
HemoglobinA1c 5.4 % Of total Hgb. range <5.7
There were lots Ordered so I’m just waiting on the endocrinologist to see what’s going to happen now
Lorraine_Tarin,
TSH 88 is very high because FT4 is below range but should respond well to 112mcg. It took about 8 weeks for my TSH to drop from 107.5 to 0.16 on 100mcg.
You should have a follow up thyroid test 6-8 weeks after resuming 112mcg in case dose needs increasing.
Thyroid peroxidase antibodies are positive for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). There is no cure for Hashimoto's which causes 90% of hypothyroidism. Levothyroxine treatment is for the low thyroid levels it causes. Many people have found that 100% gluten-free diet is helpful in reducing Hashi flares, symptoms and eventually antibodies.
Thank you I will continue with my follow up and ask the Dr about all this t
