Hi all as you know i was diagnosed with hashis in september just after being hyperthyroid but just curious to know other peoples experiences with hashis like how long do the flare ups usually last and how often do people get them, i am on a hashi flare at the moment- hyper feeling, palpy, feeling hot and then cold, achey, tight horrid throat with a burning feeling in thyroid and thyroid feels sore. Never really asked much about it and have just got on with it, i am gluten and soya free as i am celiac aswell. 😊

How are your vitamin levels? Iron, ferritin, folate, B12 and Vit D3 all need to be near top of ranges when you have Hashi's. Good that you are gluten free, can take up to 6 months to get full benefits of GF diet.

Thankyou yes i know i have low ferritin levels and only slightly low folate and doctor did start me on iron tablets but could not take them so i have got my own supply of blueiron liquid and so far so good.

Just thought it would be interesting to know other peoples experiences as ive never asked how long and how often etc?x

NDT is helpful natural dessicated thyroid but you have to pay for it and have a private prescription for it. Ask Anna69 where and how she gets it. G

I have found that keeping my TSH suppressed (below 0.05 or even lower) helps preventing flareups. When I was forced to maintain an in range TSH, I had more symptoms like the ones you describe. Then I found a doctor who believed in a suppressed TSH in Hashi patients, and I needed to go up to 200 mcg of T4 daily to achieve that. It certainly helped, although I suspect it would have been necessary to raise the T4 as the destruction of the thyroid gland progressed. Then, I switched NDT which suppresses my TSH. I have not had any flareups since going on it.

I’m also interested, how long do flare ups last? I’m not sure I’ve ever had one although my TSH is very low so perhaps that’s why.

If I had those symptoms, my first thought would be that I had a virus. Is it easy to tell the difference?

Hi there i think it is easy to tell with me as i do get tbe achey joints and it feels like you have the sniffles coming but it usually only lasts a day with me but the give away for me is a hyper swing and my neck and throat feel tight and exhausted and ysually mine lasts 3 days but again my tsh is raised as im on incorrect meds at moment until endo rings.x😊
