Thanks you both for your help and also your patience with my confusion. Had consultation with my GP who is starting me on B12 injections next week as I have a lot of neuro symptoms. He looked through my records and discovered that my B12 was much higher previously than it has been for quite some time. Without the great folks on here I would never have known to ask about this. I dont know if this will get me to where I need to be with my thyroid. Time will tell. Thank you both so much Maggi xx

I don't think doctors ensure that, if hypo, that all of our vitamins/minerals should be optimal. Some members have had very, very low results and doctor hasn't picked up at all on them.

I know shaws Have had years of useless docs. I am thankful that the people on here know so much and that I now have a doctor who will listen. My bloods all came back with the dreaded 'normal' on them!

It's terrible we have poor doctors. My mother's caused her death and in my sister and my own mind thought that removing her B12 injections as she was told 'you no longer need them' was "good". Together neither of us could have possibly thought a doctor could make a mistake in as something so common as Pernicious Anaemia. As Mum had pernicious anaemia it should never have been stopped and the result was she got stomach cancer. We didn't have internet then either as I think we do now use it to double-check things we're told.

I am glad you have a good doctor now. We need them.

So sorry about your mum. That is a terrible story. My friend has PA and was told she had to have the injections for life so as you say it is a very simple and common treatment for that condition. I do hope more doctors start to listen. Mine is glad of info I get from here and other reputable sources as he hasn't time as a busy GP to research. I wish everyone had a doctor like mine. Sadly it took 60 years and a lot of medical negligence to find a doc like him. x
