Everyone who has been so kind, and kept me going-

I go to se Dr Peatfield on Tuesday. Hoping very hard he is a bit more adventurous than the hospital in trying something, anything, to make me feel a bit more alive! Xxx

Hi Ginny, You mentioned you might try T3 and there may have been one or two who expressed anything negative but for the most part it has been a life saver. Dr. Peatfield was often mentioned until he became ill so I'm glad to hear he is taking patients. I'm in the U.S. but know he often treats adrenals as well as thyroid which seems very practical.

We have come a long way in understanding autoimmune conditions and I hope you are going gluten free. It may be difficult as a vegetarian but after watching

"Betrayal" we know that gluten doesn't really suit anyone. It is not digested completely. It also looks like thyroid tissue. I do hope you find your answers.

Many years ago I had the privilege of talking on the phone with Dr Peatfield. If he is not beaten down too badly by the health systems there, he will certainly help you as he has thousands of others when they had no where else to turn.

A hero fighting for his patients-I’m already full of admiration! X

Keep trying Ginny, you can get out of feeling ill. It takes a while and sometimes defies logic, but suddenly, one day you hit that critical point with your meds. Don't give up, it took me 2 years then it all turned round in half an hour! (I switched to NDT and took the dose I knew I needed rather than the dose the doc told me to take).

I’ve been so shocked to learn what a dismal state endocrinology in this country is in- I would never have known if I hadn’t needed help with mine! X

I'm so glad to hear this news, Ginny. I hope Dr P can offer some light and encouragement. Thinking of you xx

I’ll share the news as soon as I’ve been! I would not be surprised if this forum turned out to be more help than the endocrinology department of a London teaching hospital.........xxxx

Good luck. Dr P is amazing, still interested and working at his age. He will be able to help you but you do have to be very patient and do as he says. Don't expect immediate results and do ask him regularly for help if you aren't sure about anything. I have had horrendous problems including having to have a heart operation because of T4 not converting but he said to me some time ago that ALL his patients get better!

I'm very much looking forward to meeting him-what a magnificent person!

Does anyone think it will be a problem that NDT would be difficult for me to cope with (vegan)?

Dr Peatfield saved me! Only one who listened to me and took any notice of my research. He is a kind & generous man. Getting back on track will take time but he will give you a plan and approach to take. I’m 2.7 years down the track & no longer bed bound.

Good luck 😉

❤️ I need someone who will entertain the idea that I could be right and the doctors wrong x

Great news! I was vegetarian so feel bad about taking NDT for the piggies sake. But from what I gather the NDT will be just a byproduct, as very bit of a pig is used for something and it would probably be killed anyway for these other products. It is truly awful.

I hope your appointment with Dr P goes really well 😊

Hi Ginny

I have seen Dr Peatfield a few times with my daughters and then for myself. He is not an expert on T3 treatment but he is the guru of self treatment and, with his support, I found the confidence to treat myself, first with NDT (natural dessicated thyroid) and then with T3. I would also add that going gluten and dairy free was essential to my complete recovery but my whole journey to recovery started with our own Thyroid hero Dr Barry Durrant-Peatfield!

Good luck

He makes you feel as if your opinion is as valid as any other, which I've never heard a doctor do before. And he's an unbelievably good advertisement for his own good judgement! What a hero! Xxx
