Samy3,

TSH 2.6 indicates your thyroid is beginning to struggle but is not hypothyroid. The pain you are experiencing isn't typical of hypothyroidism. Take supplements after the blood test. If you are taking biotin or B Complex vitamins you need to stop taking them a few days prior to blood tests or they can skew results.

Thanks clutter for ur reply I'm taking b complex won't take it today and tomorrow and then will get my bloods done on Thursday... This is the same pain I had last year when I was diagnosed with graves disease but the pain went away when I was on carbimazole ...never had this pain b4 endo said last year that it might be bcs of thyroiditis. Which confirmed through the ultrasound that I had goiter but no nodules last year but I'm concerned abt this same pain that y it has not gone ....has been there ...only went away when I took carbimazole ....did calm down in between afterwards but now has came back again

Samy3,

You are definitely not hyperthyroid with TSH 2.6. I think it is very unlikely you will be prescribed Carbimazole.

I know clutter i m not hyper anymore.... But my gp does not understand .abt an hour ago when I went to see her she said to me that samy u do t have thyroid problem anymore... I said oh then what was that which proved that I have auto immune graves disease .and that goiter ...what do they stand for then...was going to give me a very high potency pain killers for pain ...my husband asked her to check my thyroid again ..she only has given me blood test for tsh ...I asked her to check b12 vitamin d...and full iron panel ..then she added those ...to be honest I only felt a bit better after I added these supplements to my diet

Samy3,

Graves never goes away but hyperthyroidism can and has in your case. There is no treatment or cure for autoimmune diseases like Graves. It is the abnormal thyroid levels it causes which NHS treats.

What you should be keeping an eye out for is going hypothyroid now as TSH 2.6 indicates thyroid is beginning to struggle. I would ask for annual thyroid tests. NHS won't make a diagnosis or treat until TSH is over range though.

I fully agree with u clutter that's what I told my GP that I have an autoimmune disease confirmed which is not going anywhere but can be controlled with medication but most of these doctors have no knowledge abt thyroid that's what I have learnt after keeping going back to them for more than a year I'm keeping an eye on it ..that's y I asked her to check this again last time it was tested in July and this 2.6 was the result with that ...so I will do the fasting one on Thursday again and will post my results here see how it goes

Samy3,

No, Graves can't be controlled with medication. It is hyperthyroidism which is controlled by Carbimazole but that isn't appropriate because you are no longer hyperthyroid.

So what's the difference then clutter I had positive antibodies for graves ...but this year in Feb GP tested me for TPO antibodies they were 55 range was between (0 to 50) so I'm confused now I do have graves and I can have under active thyroid whilst having graves disease?
