Hi ,I feel silly about writing this Ive just found this forum.

I have been medicated on levothyroxine for around 10 years for hypo. now started boarder line low dose and as the years passed I was taken up to 200mg . After a year or so it was showing I'm over dosing had all the cramps and symptoms that showed that . So went down slowly all this was done with regular blood tests I'm now on 6 monthly tests and on 125 mg . But again I'm feeling awful . Not myself .constantly cold like cold water down my back that can come suddenly and can not yet warm my body feels like it's shutting down . I have mild muscle spasms and sometimes nasty cramps .my hair is falling out badly . I have no energy . Last month I challenged myself to walk daily of 10,000 s steps a day I shocked myself in doing this for the whole month .So now I think if I can do that there's nothing wrong I just need to man up ... but I was so tried after . My weight also gained in this time of walking . I'm on the weight watchers diet plan I used to loose weight well with that .. I'm struggling to get a 1lb off in 3 weeks it's really getting me down I'm 41 years old by tye way and between the 15 and 16 stone mark .. the last 2 week's I have this tight feeling around my neck at the front when I swallow and it's pulling round into my ears .. my ears constantly buzz and it's loud and i feel odd . It feels like my neck is closing when i lay down . Peroids (sorry) but are gruesome very heavy to the point I'm flooding and passing clots that fill the palm of my hand some months .spots around my lower face and neck all the time . there are so many symptoms I'm experiencing atm I feel silly listing them all and when I see the doctor I feel daft as it seems unreal to be saying so many , I feel they won't believe me so I don't tell it like i have here. As here I'm not going to break down and make myself look silly as I always feel emotional when i talk about how i feel ... I'm due a review next week . I just feel so tired .. and then feel stupid for allowing myself to be feeling this way .. I have a wonderful life I'm a farmers wife I'm constantly busy but struggling . I have everything I want 4 children. House full of dogs as I have 6 of my own and work from home boarding dogs in the home too .. I have my horses that I just can't find the energy for and my weight is gaining to fhe point I can't ride them so have started to find new homes for them which really saddens me . I eat about half what everyone else eats I stick to my 31 points a day plan with W/w most of the time. Allow a treat on a Saturday .

Is this thyroid issues or would I look silly going to the doctor about it .. don't like to look weak and make excuses for myself when there are plenty of very poorly people out there that need help . There is so much I could say I just feel i have about 3 or 4 good days in every month and the rest I feel lonely and just totally shattered.even my eye sight has got bad . Sorry for my poor spellings and lack of punctuation . I've never posted on a forum about this so I hope I have done it right. Thank you

Hi Emmapalmer and welcome to the forum where you'll find some help I'm sure.

It sounds as though it would be helpful to have vitamins and minerals tested, either through your GP or privately (we can recommend labs that do home fingerprick or venous blood draw tests). You need:

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

All need to be optimal (not just in range) for thyroid hormone to work.

Do you have your latest thyroid test results? Can you post them with their reference ranges please. Ideally TSH, FT4 and FT3. If you don't have them just pop into your surgery and ask at reception for a print out, we are legally entitled to them.

Also, have you had thyroid antibodies tested? If not ask for those to complete the picture.

Hi no I've had none of that done as far as I know they just keep an eye on my thyroid levels always only a blood test every 6 months and it's always altering so doctor will call me when results are in and advise on how much thyroxine I should take.. Thank you . I'll try and see if they will look into the blood tests and give me the print out.. when ever I go I always feel it's what I have and I should expect to feel this way it's all part of it .. never really get given any advice.. never been told about it or even given leaflets or anything .. hence asking .. many thanks though I'll get an appointment made and see how far I get .. last time I went I was told let's just treat one thing at a time let's concentrate on periods first they gave me tranexamic acid few months back it did nothing at all and I've not been back since as I hate going and feel like I'm wasting their time ...
