Hi All,

I would like to share my opinion with TEVA. Fist time I took it I got anaphylaxis and rash. Next day was gone. Completely nothing. After two weeks I got rash all over itching (randomly of course). First time I didn't know that it is from pills so I was worry that I am sick or got some virus. But since I observed that my weight is going up then I relax a bit ;). After one month I discovered that I got from this pill and I took it again. I got again anaphylaxis and rash again even more worst my heart bit increased (I have a photos and short movie made by phone). Next day gone. After one week rash came back. I was in hospital I got some injection but still have it. I was also taking antihistamine pills. I discovered that it is from MAKROGOL 6000. The same sh*t is in antihistamine pills but they are small not like TEVA pills (almost like pill for horse). I have started drinking calcium it helps a bit but few days ago this rash started be "stronger". I don't know how to deal with it...any ideas?

Sadly, reactions to tablets are all too common.

Can you please clarify:

What country are you in?

Which Teva medicine were you taking (you put "Painkillers" in the subject but not exactly which one)?

Are there any alternative makes of the medicine you need/want to take?

Hi,

Thanks on reply. I am from Poland. Yes I put Painkillers because they have ibuprofen. But I never had any allergic problems. I just took it at morning due to headache. I can send You a photo if needed. It is new TEVA product in pharmacy shop lady sold my that as equivalent and it was cheaper.

Well, I just need to know what I need take to remove it from my body...

And do you have a thyroid issue?

I do not know what to do except avoid taking anything with polyethylene glycol.

Some information here:

That will be very hard...No I never had any problems with thyroid...

The abstract of the article you linked to is interesting and could be important. However I have little or nothing to add to what you already realise and understand.

Abstract

Background

Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) or macrogols are polyether compounds and are widely used as additives in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and food.

Case report

We report on a Caucasian patient experiencing recurrent severe allergic reactions to several drugs. An extensive diagnostic workup including skin prick tests, intradermal tests (IDT) and a double-blind oral challenge was performed to identify the trigger of anaphylaxis. In the present case hypersensitivity to the additive polyethylene glycol was confirmed by an IDT suggesting an Immunoglobulin E-dependent mechanism as a cause of the reaction.

Conclusion

Potential life-threatening hypersensitivity reactions to hidden molecules like macrogol may be underdiagnosed. Cases of immediate-type PEG hypersensitivity were reported with increasing frequency. The awareness regarding the allergenic potential of PEG should be raised and a proper product labelling is crucial to prevent PEG mediated hypersensitivity.

This is a search of the UK's Electronic Medicines Compendium site looking for Macrogol (UK spelling) - found over 970 products that mention it in the Product Information Leaflets:

Not really strange - for example, Teva levothyroxine in the UK is different to Teva levothyroxine even in Ireland. The companies keep shifting what they sell where, reformulating, etc. As well as buying up other companies, rebranding, and so on.

TEVA is a brand name not a type of medicine. Do you know what the TEVA brand you are taking is for?

This is a Thyroid Group but if you haven't a thyroid problem then I don't think we can help or advise you. May be you should ask the person who you got the medication from.

Yes I know that this is Thyroid Group...I wrote my post here because only here I have found same problems as I have with hives...I has been already two and half months from last expositions to this medicine but still I have some hives....and what it strange suddenly my wife got this as well...but she never took this at all...

Hives is an allergic reaction caused by something you are both allergic to so not looking like it is your TEVA medication as only one of you is taking that. It can be very difficult to find out what is causing it but first I should stop the medication if that is possible and see if the problem continues and if not that make a list of any drug, food etc that you used and check by excluding things in turn. It could be soap, cleaning profits food, anything that you oth come into contact with. Good luck with finding it.

Actually my wife discover that it was from a chocolate bar which I also ate. But the problem is that before I ate this I also had hives. Before I took TEVA Ibuforen MAX I never had allergic problems. On today situation look like this that always in the morning when I wake up I already had several hives (randomly locations). I drink calcium on the morning and during day is more over gone...and next day the same... it must be from TEVA due to fact that previously all was ok...

It has been 2,5month since last exposition to this pill. How long it take before it will be flush away from my system?

Can't help you with that as I assume it could vary! Sounds complicated, you may have to find an allergy tester to see if they can help but I don't think they are cheap

Yes it can be..however I have found on other forums that people have similar problems with TEVA... Well I hope it will be removed from my system sooner or later...
