I am sorry for your losses. What would you like advice about specifically? Are you on medication, if so how much and for how long? Do you have recent blood results you can post? Are you hoping to try again for a baby?

Thanks for reply. I m on tyronorm 100. Yes I am currently 11 weeks pregnant. At week 5 my TSH and FT4 was normal. But now it is TSH 6.56 and total T4 is 14.1. That's why I m again worried about my thyroid levels. Has it caused any problems in baby? Because weeks 5 to11 was very important for brain development. I again tested for FT4 and then according my result my endocrinologist will suggest me change dose. But worried about past 5 weeks

I again have 2 days for my test results. And after that my endocrinologist will give me new dose. Can you suggest me that can I take more does nearly 125 mg instead of 100 mg for these 2 days? So that my chances will decrease for any misshappening.

I'd increase yes as it takes about 7 days for the increase to be absorbed.

You are not being well looked after by the doctors I am afraid.

At ten weeks baby has its own thyroid gland but you have to be optimally medicated especially as you've had past miscarriages.

Always get a print-out of your results/ranges as 'normal' 'fine' o.k are useless if the patient has symptoms. The aim of replacement hormones is to relieve all symptoms and we should feel well.

Hi Shaws,

I got my FT4 report, and mine is 1.36 and ranges for 1st trimester pregnancy is 0.7 to 2.0. dr increased dose by 25 mg,so now I'll take 125 mg. He again called for next visit in 6 weeks.

I am very sorry you had several miscarriages. It is common with undiagnosed/undertreated hypothyroidism.

First thing you learn on this forum is that we have to read, learn and ask questions as the medical professionals in the the UK seem to be woefully under-trained and unknowledgeable about any clinical symptoms of hypo or how to relieve them. All they take notice of is the blood test and not the patient's clinical symptoms.

thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_....

First get a new blood test - it has to be the very earliest possible and fasting (you can drink water) and ask GP for a Full Thyroid Function Test. This consists of TSH, T4, T3, Free T4, Free T3 and thyroid antibodies. B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate. You can say you've been advised to have these from the NHS Choices for info and advice Thyroiduk.org.uk. Sometimes even if requested the Lab may not do so but you can get those done done privately as we have two recommended labs.

GP should definitely test vitamins/minerals. The aim of taking thyroid hormone replacements is to replace the ones our thyroid gland is no longer providing. You take levo with one full glass of water (usually when we awake) and wait an hour before eating. Food interferes with the uptake of the hormones.

Always get a print-out with the ranges for your own records and so you can post if you have a query.

You should be given a midwife who understands the regime to take care of you. If this isn't happening ask at the hospital and voice your concerns.
