Hi just want to know if hypothyroidism can effect my eyes my eyes are very red ,sore and I am having pain behind the eye having to take paracetamol to relieve symptoms

Yes it can effect eyes you need to be checked in case it's Thyroid Eye Disease.

It could be Thyroid Eye Disease - that is unlikely but possible in someone who is hypothyroid.

I had dry, uncomfortable eyes - and sometimes slight pain round the entire eyeballs. A combination of getting adequate thyroid hormone levels and using preservative-free lubricating eye products and Lacri-Lube at bedtime helped.

Wholeheartedly endorse your advice to get a proper eye test - in many areas, start by going to an optician.

My hypothyroid sister had severe TED so although not common it does happen.
