You don't need Hashimoto's to have a twitching eye! I am an example. Went through months of frequent bouts of twitching eye(s) - mostly right-side only. Very annoying but an ultimately minor issue that has resolved with adequate treatment, or time, or something.
Although work is being done, there is currently limited understanding of the association of genetic variations with Hashimoto's. I am just about to post a short paper on that subject.
Do you mean the actual eyeball? I actually get contracting when I wake up above my eyeballs under the eyelid, feels like contracting / tightening muscles.
It can be low magnesium or low B12. I had very twitchy eyelids before my low B12 was picked up in a blood test. Since treatment began I hardly ever get it now, only when I’m very tired.
Mich87 - Did you ever resolve this. I have had persistent eyelid (upper and lower) twitching in my right eye only for 4 months now. When I pull down the lower lid it is quite red (redness varies day by day) vs. the other eye. I feel like it is inflammation connected to Hashimoto's.
