FT3 Result: Hi all put on my test result 22 days... - Thyroid UK
FT3 Result
What were the rest of your results alongside?
Hi Nanaedake i only had the free t3 done privately last results for tsh and t4 were done by my gp i posted them on here 22 days ago in a previous post .
Oh. I'm sorry, you really need them doing all together to get a proper picture. It only costs slightly more to have the 3 done at once. I can't really interpret it on one figure, except to state the obvious. It's below range.
7/8.2017 TSH 0.01 (0.35-5.00) free t4 15.5 (9.0-21.0) serum ferritin 98 (15-200)
Have you got thyroid antibodies? Have you had vit D, vitB12 and folate tested?
Yes have been on thyroxine for years felt like crap tried Armour about 4 yrs ago felt normal on them my health board in Glasgow has now stopped prescribing them to me so i was on looking for some advice on another type of ndt i could buy privately that was affordable i am in the process of ordering thiroyd because i only had one bottle of armour i have been rationing them to one instead of 2 for the past 4 weeks i was taking 1 and half grain X 2 once a day at night so feel pretty crappyu at the moment when i put up my post someone advised me to get free t3 done but i did't know i had to get them all done at the same time. Mybrain is like a ball of wool that a cat has been mauling for a week or 2 lol i dont really have a good gp last blood test results vit b12 and folate had haemolysed he never asked me to get them redone so i havent been back to him sometimes i dont see the point in using up energy i just dont have sorry for rambling Thanks Gaye
Many (myself included) have had great success with 'Thryoid-S' NDT. It's made in Thailand, and a bottle of a 1000 tablets (each tablet is 1 grain) will cost you about £80 to £100 - depending on where you source it. Anyway, perhaps an option for you to consider as a viable alternative to the (crazy) expensive Armour.
All the best.
Your FT3 will be low if you have not taken full dose of meds for 4 weeks. While you sort out sourcing NDT you need to at least get a decent dose of Levothyroxine to tide you over or your brain will turn to more mush (sorry, not technical description). Go see a different GP, explain your dilemma, get prescription for levo. Then get vitamin levels tested.
Your GP probably won't know but can verify the MHRA did a review of Levothyroxine report published 2013 called something like clinical and quality review of Levothyroxine, sorry on phone so no link to hand. Just Google. Levo
Was found to be of variable quality and was wrongly classified. The final poor quality levo wad removed from shelves 2015 but the problems were first raised around 2007, So you could have been badly affected by poor quality Levothyroxine and may find one to suit you now.
Point your GP to report and ask to try Wockhardt or similar.Avoid TEVA for now as some have had problems. It will take a while to feel well again as you've dropped your dose. Might take 6 months or more but you'll get very ill if you do nothing.
Others on forum will give advice about sourcing NDT I'm sure.
It is low - under range when it should be in the top quarter of the range (in the high 5s)
