Headaches.

Hi everyone.

I changed over to NDT about 4 months ago. I’ve had constant headaches since. Nothing debilitating but always there in the background.

Does anyone else have the same experience or am I special.

Thanks

I always get headaches like this when slightly hypo or undermedicated - just a dull ache and like you mention - nothing hugely debilitating? Are you sure you're medicating enough or got back to optimal results?

Try taking an anti-histamine tablet one hour before your next door. If you don't have a headache you may be sensitive to fillers/binders in your thyroid hormones. I'd try a change of make of NDT and that might work.

Hi.

I started with NP thyroid went over to WP thyroid not long after. Headaches started as soon as i started taking NDT.

I was taking 150 of levo, now on 2 grains of NDT.

When we take NDT, we should increase by 1/4 tablet every two weeks until symptom-free. I believe WP thyriod is hypoallergenic. Do you take your dose with one full glass of water and wait an hour before eating and check your pulse/temp frequently until you are on an optimum dose, i.e. you feel well with no symptoms. If either pulse/temp goes too high, reduce to previous dose.

I take two 1 grain at 07.30. one full glass of water. At least 1 hour before I eat or drink anything.

Weirdly 2 weeks ago I was feeling tired in the afternoon, took a quarter of a 25 mcg of T3 headache disappeared. But I felt jittery after a couple of days, haven't taken since. Bit stupid I know.

If we are self-medicating we have to be cautious.

This specialist, doctor, scientist recommends one daily dose. I shall give you a link. All answers are good but one in particular January 30, 2002 is informative.

On this link there is three free Chapters from Dr Lowe's book which might also be helpful.

It is suggested that the effect of one grain of T3 is approx 100mcg of T4.
