Hi, I am new to this site. I joined because I have been taking Mercury Pharma for several years without any problems, my doctor has it written on my prescription. Unfortunately, when picking up my prescription this month, the chemist said that they can no longer get Mercury Pharma. I would like to know if anyone else has this problem as I am quite frightened to change as I have had problems with other brands in the past.
Mercury Pharma: Hi, I am new to this site. I... - Thyroid UK
Mercury Pharma
You could use an internet pharmacy - such as one of these:
nhs.uk/Service-Search/pharm...
Also, contact the company:
Mercury Pharma has had several names and several take-overs. I would be wary too if I had been getting on fine with one brand of levothyroxine. I hope you can source the product even if it has had a change of name.
Cavell,
As far as I'm aware there is no shortage of Mercury Pharma Levothyroxine. It may be a problem with your pharmacist's wholesale distributor. If you contact Concordia customer service they should be able to help you and your pharmacist. concordiarxinternational.co...
Yes several have mentioned this and I'm having the same problem with a different type of medication at the moment. Make sure the pharmacy is aware you have had problems with other brands. Mine range around all the suppliers the other day and no one had the particular make I was looking for but she did have another brand in as well which I knew I hadn't tried before so I've taken it and so far it's ok.
Boots got it for me on Saturday.
Whereas my branch of Boots insisted they only ever supply Almus (repackaged Actavis) - at least in the 50 and 100 microgram doses.
Hi, I told my Pharmacist yesterday that I had heard there didn't appear to be a problem with a shortage of Mercury Pharma Levothyroxine. They said they would look into it and they phoned me today to say that they now have them for me.
Also, I sent an Email to Concordia on Sunday and I had an Email from them today to say they have them in stock and that my Pharmacist should contact Alliance Healthcare to obtain stock.
I hope this helps anyone else who is having a problem.
Once again, thank you all for your help.
Cavell,
Isn't it amazing how the right words, backed up with a bit of evidence, can unblock a logjam?
Just why do you, as a patient, have to find things out and inform them? Are they not the professionals with your well-being the fundamental reason for them having a job?
