Been diagnosed with overactive thyroid although I feel fine after having a baby.

I tend to gain some weight when taking Carbimazole but I think that’s more to do with the fact your thyroid level is improving so therefore you don’t loose weight it gains. Hope this helps Lisa

I only put the weight that I had lost due to graves (about a half stone) back on. Best wishes.

Thanks, I have lost quite a bit of weight after baby 5 months ago so don't want to be putting all that back on!

I have, but think it's probably down to me still trying to get back into good eating habits, after months of being able to eat whatever I wanted, and still lose weight !

How much have you put on?

About half a stone so far - but I lost more than this, and would really like to stay as I am, so need to get on top of things.

Ok feeling a bit better. Everyone seems to be complaining about 1-2 stone weight gains 😮

I went back to my pre Graves weight. One of the symptoms of Graves is that you lose weight - in my case masses of weight.

I read in Dr Tofts' book that I would regain the weight that I lost and I thought 'oh no I wont' but I actual fact I did, I went back to exactly what I was before I started to lose weight. Such a shame because when I was thin on the outside I looked amazing - even if on the inside I was a total mess.

I wouldn't let that put you off taking carbimazole because if you have Graves then you will need to take it or PTU to get better.

Just read your last comment, I imagine if you lose 1-2 stones you will have a 1-2 stone weight gain - like I did!

So I would put on the weight I lost from baby? I put on 3 stone with her as she was a big baby. My normal weight is a few pounds heavier than what I am now

I don't know the answer to that. I would imagine you would go back to your 'normal' before baby weight whatever that was but I really don't know.
