Around 3 weeks ago my Levothyroxine was increased from 125 to 150 mcg because my tsh had increased from well under 1 to 10. My main symptoms were tiredness and hair loss when I wash brush and style my hair. Much more than usual! How long before my hair will stop falling so much does anyone know? It worries me!
Thank you!!

It can take several months for hairloss to cease but you should be losing less as your thyroid levels increase. Your GP should retest thyroid levels 6-8 weeks after dose was increased to 150mcg. Arrange the blood draw early in the morning when TSH is highest and fast (water only) as TSH drops after eating and drinking.
The goal of Levothyroxine is to restore the patient to euthyroid status. For most patients that will be when TSH is 0.4 - 1.0 with FT4 in the upper range. FT4 needs to be in the upper range in order that sufficient T3 is converted. Read Treatment Options in thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/about_... Email louise.roberts@thyroiduk.org if you would like a copy of the Pulse article to show your GP.
