Does anyone else get SO dizzy whether they're hyper or hypo? I fluctuate yet I stay dizzy with both.

Hi, yes I get very dizzy at times when hypo. It is a horrible feeling. But before we can go e you any advice on how to handle or address it, we would really need to see some results as this could also be caused by nutrient deficiencies. You were asked for theses 3 weeks ago on a previous post and you said you would dig them out and post them. Could you do so please?

Dear Elizebeth. I get a dizzy, whoosyness in the head. I now use this to gauge dose of thyroid extract. If I feel whoosy it is time for my next dose or I might need to take a bit extra. If my heart thumps I have taken too much. You dizzyness could be down to all sorts though. Adrenals, b12 deficiency, drug side effects.

think you are spot on about the amount of extract we take. I got so lazy cutting my pill as I had been taking 1 3/4 but just thought it would be easier to take two. after about a week I was so lightheaded and dizzy so now take the correct amount and am a lot better. it is quite scary and I wont make that mistake again. it is quite hard to get the exact amount that we need and everyone is individual

I did with hypo but only on getting up especially from a squatting or kneeling position. That was low blood pressure but yours sounds different. I know Meniers disease is more common in those with thyroid disorders it affects the ear canals and the fluid therein that detects orientation and ensures we have perfect balance. Dizziness is one of the symptoms of Meniers disease. Might be worth investigating?

I'm the same as you, really struggling with dizziness. I've dropped my medication and think it's to do with this. Adding 1/2 tsp salt to my drinking water seems to be helping. I'm getting my electrolytes tested to check if they are in balance. Boots.com have a test for £35

Hope you feel better soon,.

Try eating gluten free. It often helps alleviate a lot of symptoms

This can be many things from Tinnitus onwards. I am hypo but have low blood pressure quite frequently and suffer dizzy spells

It's been my experience that there something wrong with my thyroid medicine dosage when I get the extreme dizziness . It can be either too high or too low on the dosage and cause the dizziness . Interestingly noted the comment on the salt because once salt made me have an extreme dizzy spell . Recently reading the green med info (Greenmedinfo.com) - and they pointed out that salt can actually cause autoimmune disease to flareup . I know for sure that I have Hashimoto's . So I plan to be more aware of my salt intake . You might make a little experiment for yourself and try limiting salt intake and see if dizziness goes away. Most people with low thyroid have Hashimoto's . If you had not been tested for Hashimoto's you might look up the symptoms .

Lots and lots of stuff we have to watch out for it's a tricky disease but most the time not terminal .

I do. I have Tinitus too. It's not vertigo dizziness (which I have had) it's more a kind of fuzzy, dizzy, lightheadedness. I have high blood pressure too though so it could be that and my B12 isn't right. I daren't take salt because of the high bp.

Angie, I would put my money on high blood pressure (bp). This is a tricky one since bp medication will degrade the efficacy of your thyroid medication. You have to fix your high bp via other means other than medication. Unfortunately the best way to "fix" or improve bp is to lose weight and exercise - and eat lots of garlic. This is a problem I have been tackling for the past year and I am winning very slowly and sometimes excruciatingly frustrating. The losing weight process is a total life changer, you just have to watch what you eat (not too much) and force yourself to get exercise instead of getting on with things you should be doing or would rather be doing. It's not that my bp is so great, my systolic is still ~140 but that's a hell of a lot better than ~170 (diastolic was always OK). It was a dizzy spell and tinitus which drew my attention to this dangerous condition, but those don't happen any more.

I have been suffering with severe dizziness (vertigo) since the beginning of the summer holidays it has been a complete wash out with me mainly being stuck to the sofa.

My levo was upped to 100mcg and it seems once my fatigue started to lift the blurred vision and off balance starts I had it last year and thought it was linked to the levo but my endo said I was under medicated but it's only got worse.

But my blood sugars keep dropping as well and then it gets worse I can't work out why I'm dizzy as it does point to vertigo as I've got a headache, tinnitus earache and nausea occasionally.

The thought it could be menires feels me with fear I've fought for years to get my levo upped I've got a telephone appointment with my dr Thursday which I've had to wait 2 weeks for ,see what pearls of wisdom he comes out with.

Iron deficiency can be the cause of feeling out of balance, especially when standing from a sitting or lying position, or turning a corner in your house quickly.

B12 deficiency can cause the same symptoms, which for me B 12 Sublingual tablets are the cure.
