I've been taking levothyroxine for 6 months which has relieved most of my symptoms but I have a really dizzy head and spinning sensation when I turn over in bed to the left or turn my head in a certain angle - is this an effect of the levo?

Dizzy spells
an effect of hashi's. inflammation and/or being hypothyroid and/or levo, when it doesn't agree with you.
Have a look at a condition called bppv (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) It's an inner ear thing which makes you dizzy when you change the position of your head.
Hi
For me it was finally discovered that I had almost non existent B12 and vit D levels Etc .

Hi, Whiskey 56 reply is possible. I had this quite bad and was attending a balance clinic in ENT. They performed an Epley maneuver on me which helped. Also had to do exercises which involved looking at a certain spot on the wall or using my own thumb as a guide and then move my head from side to side for up to two minutes a time. I had to keep my eyes on my thumb (which I had to keep it still). When I could do this for two minutes without feeling dizzy, I felt much better. I do have a perforated eardrum and tinnitus but my balance is much improved. It's worth asking GP about this because I know how deliberating being dizzy can be. I became quite housebound during that time and my confidence is still in recovery mode. xxx I hope you find a solution soon.
Thanks for that info Mango. Luckily mine was not to debilitating and went away of its own accord after a few weeks, though it was pretty scary at the start. I also suffer from quite bad tinnitus and actually saw my GP yesterday about it. He wanted me to take some drugs (not sure what they were called) but I declined as I don't think there are any meds that do much for the condition. He just said well come back if it gets too intrusive and I'll refer you to an ENT! Anyway glad that your bppv is much better!
Hi Whiskey1956,
Thank you, I am glad you are feeling better also. It is very scary when your balance is off tilt. The tablets your GP wanted to prescribe probably was stematil. I was on them for a long time and they even stopped being effective, I am glad not to have to be taking them any longer. If you do need help with the condition I do recommend the ENT, they are quite thorough. Just lately my tinnitus has gone through the roof lately. It's amazing how noisy it can be in a quiet room LOL.
I shall definitely go back to my GP if this gets worse. Mine gets worse when I am anxious and when I get a migraine. Thanks for all the info.
I can relate to the anxiety bit also.
Thankyou 😀 - really appreciating all your replies - I had come up with bppv when googling as it seems exactly the same symptoms but it all seemed to happen the same time as I'd been diagnosed with hypo and started taking levo so it seemed there Could be a connection there - I've asked to be tested for b12 with my 3 month blood test today and I'm going to add vit D to my vitamins. I will have a bash at those exercises too 👍
If you do the exercises and you feel dizzy you have to stop. They have to be done 5 times a day. Each time stopping when or if you become dizzy. Eventually I could do the full 2 minutes without dizziness but it took a few weeks. You need to move your head as far to the right and left as possible without hurting yourself. ( my radius isn't great because of neck issues). Don't do it too fast, do it as if you are naturally turning your head; keeping your eyes all the time on your thumb or chosen spot (hope that makes sense?). I would still consider seeing your GP for an ENT referral to be on the safe side. My perforation was not picked up until I saw a specialist at the ENT, in the meantime I was being given drops OUCH! It was awful because perforations need to be kept dry. All the best to you with this. x
