Hello everyone, I have had a phone call from my G P this evening regarding blood test results, which I had yesterday. She is now increasing thyroxine up a
further 25 micrograms. Although I will make a appointment to see her i did ask her briefly about my results. ...... Apparently initially it was raised at 22 after been on thyroxine now a little under 5 weeks it is 9 . 3 . She explained it should be at under 5 range. Can Anyone CLARIFY what this means. Thanks

It seems as though she is talking about your TSH - Thyroid Stimulating Hormone. I imagine it was 22 when you were diagnosed and by taking Levo it has brought it down to 9.3 and that is why she's raised your dose of Levo.
You need to learn all about your blood test results so that you can understand them and know yourself if your dose is right.
There is TSH, Free T4 and Free T3 (which is rarely done).
The aim of a treated hypo patient generally is for TSH to be 1 or below or wherever it needs to be for FT4 and FT3 to be at the top of their respective reference ranges if that is where you feel well.
Always ask for a print out of your test results and make sure the reference ranges are included. Then when posting on the forum members can interpret them. Ranges vary from lab to lab which is why it's important to have the range from the lab who did your test.
When having thyroid tests, always book the earliest appointment of the morning, fast overnight (water allowed) and leave off Levo for 24 hours. This gives the highest possible TSH which is needed when looking for an increase in dose or to avoid a reduction. TSH is highest early morning and lowers throughout the day and after eating. This is a patient to patient tip so you wont hear this from your GP.
Thank you for your reply, omg this seems all very hard to understand at the moment , especially when I ....don't feel right in the head!!! Were my levels very high or low? . All i know at the moment is i felt really ill and thought I was loosing the plot. I have managed to stay awake all day today so hopefully I am a little closer to some normality. I will ensure i get a print out of lab report.
