Update on my resent blood results
Are you on treatment for hypothyroidism? If not you need to be started on medication, if you are then you need a raise in medication. In the long term untreated hypothyroidism can in rare cases lead to coma and death, but it is extremely rare. More likely that over years you can develop problems with osteoporosis and cardiac arrhythmia, high blood pressure and raised cholesterol.
Please don't panic, you do need to correct thyroid imbalance but the thyroid results are not going to make you keel over just yet. We can't see the laboratory ranges which we do need to see to make sensible suggestions.
Many doctors will wait until someone's TSH is 10.0 before they will treat so although yours is double that you're not going to keel over in the next week from those result. However, you do need to take levothyroxine so go back to your doctor and get blood tests for vitamin levels, B12, folate, ferritin. Your vitamin D is in range but it could be better, the test results suggest 75 is optimal.
You may need to start on a very small dose and give your body time to adjust then keep upping the dose. It takes time to adjust. I can't see the ranges so again, I can't be sure but your red blood cell count looks low and might indicate vitamin B12 deficiency or iron deficiency so you need to get that checked asap. It could be what's causing the problem with the levothyroxine. Book to see your doc before the bank hol and get those blood tests done.
Hi!
Could you please repost so that we can read all the info, including the dates on the lh side and importantly, the reference ranges to the right of the actual readings.
However, seems you are under medicated.
If you look at your results most of them are fine so don't be so frightened but you're right, the second set of tests the TSH has risen so you need to get started on levothyroxine right away even if you start on a tiny dose so you do need to get back to your doctor and get some advice.
There's only a vit D result on there, and that is a bit too low. So, it's more than possible that your ferritin, vit B12 and folate are also low, and that could be why you can't tolerate T4. So, you really do need to get them tested.
How are you feeling on the Metavive? Does that make you feel ill, too? If you feel ok on that, continue on that until you get your nutrients sorted. You're not going to die any time soon.
I was ill on the METAVIVE as well and had to stop taking them. I've posted my ferritin etc on a new post. Thank you for replying to me.
Yes, I've seen those results, and commented.
So, you couldn't tolerate the Metavive, either... hmmm... Well, there is a liquid T4, if you can persuade your doctor to prescribe that. That would tell you if it's the fillers that were affecting you, or if it really was the hormone. That's really what you need to know before going any further.
Don't worry - you will not die. My TSH was 100 so yours is much lower and you will be put onto levothyroxine.
