The most important thing, I believe, with thyroidectomy is to select a surgeon who does 40 or more thyroidectomies a year. Higher volume means best results. If you want to hear more about outcomes you can watch Butterfly Thyroid Cancer's conference videos on their website. They discuss best outcomes for thyroidectomy. Although it's directed at patient with cancer, from the point of view of thyroidectomy, the surgery is the same as far as I'm aware although perhaps more accuracy to remove all thyroid tissue.
