Hi I started T3 about a week ago and i am feeling really tired and down. Is this normal? I was feeling OK on Euthyrox on its own, but my T3 was low.

Welcome to the forum, Annavanrose.

If you felt well it doesn't matter that T3 was low. What were your thyroid results and ranges and how much Euthyrox were you taking and how much T3 are you taking instead?

Hi Thank you for the quick response.

I was taking 100 Euthyrox and now i am taking 75 with T3 SR 20 MCG. My T4 is now in the normal range after 8 months of medication, but my T3 is just under normal, (but only just). Hence why the doctor told me to take this T3 separate.

Annavanrose,

20mcg T3 is equivalent to 60mcg T4 so it's a good dose increase and should raise your FT3. Although it acts quicker than T4 improvement is not instant and it will take a few weeks for FT3 to rise and metabolise and improve symptoms.

You should have a repeat thyroid function test including FT3 in 6-8 weeks after adding T3 to make sure FT3 remains within range.
