You will need a very open minded doctor. NDT is unlicensed and if any doctor prescribes it he has to take personal responsibility for doing so. It's a very rare doctor indeed who is willing to do this.

What you need to do is address the antibodies.

You can help reduce the antibodies by adopting a strict gluten free diet which has helped many members here. Gluten contains gliadin (a protein) which is thought to trigger autoimmune attacks so eliminating gluten can help reduce these attacks. You don't need to be gluten sensitive or have Coeliac disease for a gluten free diet to help.

Supplementing with selenium l-selenomethionine 200mcg daily can also help reduce the antibodies, as can keeping TSH suppressed.

You're on quite a high dose of Levo. Do you have your latest results (with reference ranges) to share? It could be that you're not absorbing your Levo very well. Hashi's can cause gut problems which can affect absorption. Let's see where your levels lie and members can comment. If you don't have your results then ask your surgery for a print out. If you're in the UK you are legally entitled to them under the Data Protection Act.

Optimal levels of vitamins and minerals are needed for thyroid hormone to work. Have you had the following tested, if so please post results, if not please ask for them to be done.

Vit D

B12

Folate

Ferritin

Ross24,

NDT is unlicensed in the UK so it is rarely prescribed on the NHS. Most members using NDT have private prescriptions or buy online and self-medicated.
