Hello all. This question may raise a few eyebrows but has anyone ever heard of acupuncture being effective in treating hypo/hyper? A friend has suggested the possibility so I thought I would ask a very knowledgeable pool of lovely people.
Any thoughts? 😀

I had acupuncture, reduced the long term swelling in ankles and feet. Think there is a lot to be said for it. That was 18 mths+ ago, swelling just starting to reappear, so will probably go back before it gets too bad. find a good one. And good luck.
I asked if he could help thyroid. They see it as a whole body thing so not thyroid specifically. I do think he did me quite a lot of good- it is all about balancing the body. I do know of people who have been cured of sinus problems and such.
Hi Louise, do you have Hashimoto's? From Izabella Wentz, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis: Lifestyle Interventions for Finding and Treating the Root Cause
"Acupuncture has been reported to balance the Th1/Th2 ratio and has been found helpful in a variety of conditions including [...] autoimmune conditions. Acupuncture is thought to cause physical responses in nerve cells, promoting the release of cytokines, which regulate the immune system. Recent studies have demonstrated that acupuncture can help rebalance Th1 disorders by promoting Th2 cytokines, and that it is helpful in type IV hypersensitivity reactions like Hashimoto's. For those who are skeptical and who cite the placebo effect, it is worth nothing that many of these studies were conducted on animals such as dogs, rats, and guinea pigs in addition to humans.
My own TPO antibodies fell from the 2,000 range to the mid-300s after receiving acupuncture and taking associated immune-balancing herbs prescribed by my acupuncturist. My antibodies remained low for over a year, but started creeping up when I moved to a different state and stopped acupuncture treatments."
