I take levo and metformin. Has anyone had any experience of having a lower than expected tsh level when taking both of these?
Thanks.
Hello all.

Low TSH isn't really important. Many people need under range or even suppressed TSH in order to feel well and keep their Free T4 at the top of the range. Some people's TSH drops like a stone when they even look at a thyroid hormone while others have TSH that stays failry high - remember it's not a thyroid hormone but it sproduced by the pituitary to tell the thyroid to produce more hormone, so if you ahve enough or the feedback loop is impaired, your TSH will be low. The thing to watch with metformin is that it stops you absorbing B12 and low B12 will impair conversion to T3 (and give you hypo-like symptoms)
Many thanks. My tsh today is 3.6. Everything else they tested for is fine but I know that b12 was not tested. I did ask but was told it was not necessary.
Should I just take a supplement? I already take a multi vitamin. Thank you
Well, that TSH is much too high for someone on levo. It looks as though you are undermedicated. How do you feel? Do you have a free T4 result?
Multi-vitamins are really a waste of money - they don't contain enough of the things you need, contain things you don't and tend to use the cheapest versions of the ingredients. You need to know your current levesl before you supplment in case you are severely deficient and need injections. A B12 supplement won't do any harm, but if you need injections or have perncious anaemia, supplementing B12 now will make diagnosis next to impossible,
Do you have results for folate, ferritin and vitamin D? If not, I would get everything tested privately
