This is a description of the presentation details and prognosis from Medscape:

Euthyroid hyperthyroxinemia is defined as a condition in which the serum total thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) concentrations are increased, but the thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) concentration is normal and there are no clinical signs or symptoms of thyroid dysfunction. These changes may be transient or persistent.

In the past, euthyroid hyperthyroxinemia was a diagnostic challenge and many patients were inappropriately treated for thyroid disease. Today, serum TSH is a screening test for thyroid function, and a normal TSH value should not be followed by measurement of total T4. In these circumstances, euthyroid hyperthyroxinemia frequently remains undetected with no harm to the patients.

But I do definitely have symptoms of underactive thyroid and was diagnosed by the late Dr Skinner who Brought back sick people from zombies to optimal health .

I have been very well since I was started on thyroxine and T3 over ten years ago ,but last year because I had a low t4 but normal TSH I was advised by gp to come off the meds altogether ,and now I am back to square one ,with no quality of life and been told I have this condition which I have never heard of .

Then you haven't got it. If you had low T4 and normal TSH, this isn't hyperthyroxinemia but hypothyroxinemia which might very well indicate inadequate treatment. If you have high FT4/FT3 I should be very surprised.

Sorry Diogenes I made a error it is hypothyroxinemia

I have just read a copy of a letter the specialist wrote to my gp which states I have hypothyroxinemia and he states i dont need thyroxine therapy but I have checked the copy to another specialist he is sending me to see and that one says I have hyperthyroxine, so I am very confused which one it is

This seems a bit confusing. It might be clearer if you posted the TSH value that was supposed to be "normal". If above 3 or 3.5 the chances of that being "normal" are much lower - the thyroid is stuggling. On the other hand if the TSH was around 1 then with below normal FT4 that indicates something wrong with the pituitary.

Hi again with reference to your last reply ,the last TSH in July was 2.8 T4 was 11 and T3 was 6.3
