Hello,

What supplements do you take for your Thyroid gland ( Hashimotos) and Adrenals? Any recommendations for supporting the thyroid AND the adrenals? Thanks so much.

Selenium l-selenomethionine 200mcg daily is recommended to help reduce antibodies when you have Hashi's, it also helps conversion of T4 to T3. Also a strict gluten free diet and keeping TSH suppressed is supposed to help reduce antibodies.

General supplements for thyroid and adrenals are

Vit C - at least 2000mg daily

B Complex - a good brand, preferably containing methylfolate rather than folic acid, and not supermarket/Boots/Holland & Barrett own brands.

Specific supplements for adrenals could only be suggested if you've had a 24 hour adrenal stress test which tests both cortisol and DHEA.

Testing Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin and ensuring levels are optimal, by supplementing if necessary, is always advisedl. These all need to be at optimal levels for thyroid hormone to work.

Thank you Seaside Susie. Sorry I have only just seen this. I was on Nutri Adrenal Extra for my adrenals but they now seem to have been discontinued. I am unsure which supplement I should take to replace it.

I don't know much about adrenal supplements. If you make a new thread with something like 'Replacement for Nutri Adrenal Extra' in the title, that should attract the attention of those who have had to source an alternative.

I think I've seen mention of Adrenavive so it might be worth looking at that to see if it is any good, I believe there is more than one version.
