Scans for thyroid and abdomen

I have put off having these scans as I dreaded to think how long I would be kept waiting on the NHS or my GP saying that it was unnecessary.

I've found a body scan clinic in Manchester (they have them in Leeds, London and some other locations).

I'm having them done 1) to see exactly what my thyroid resembles so I can keep a check on it. Out of interest really) and 2) the abdomen as I know I have absorption issues and need to sort out my gut - know I have a hernia developed in pregnancy.

They are costing £120 each. I booked them today and my appointment is on the 1 August.

I've used the clinic before "this is my..." when I was pregnant and they were really efficient and professional.

Just thought it might be helpful for others who think private scans etc cost the earth.

Thanks for posting.

I had pelvic scan done via a private company (the scan is done in the Mothercare shop). Since I just wanted the scan and not bloods, they charged only 70 instead of the advertised 180. Not bad!

Hi

Can you just ring and book the scans or do you have to go through your G.P.?

Thank you
