Hi I'm new here I got diagnosed with an underactive thyroid I am receiving treatment and it has stopped me from sleeping for ridiculous amounts of time but i still feel like I have no energy and it's making me depressed I forced myself to do insanity (fitness programme) in hopes that i would have more energy from it but I'm not even lying I feel like i have less energy now then when i started the programme it's a joke I just constantly feel like i have brain fog and it's all becoming too much for me and I'm finding it difficult to even leave my house........... is it my thyroid? am i just going crazy? what is happening to me?

Nathan903,

Can you post your recent thyroid results and ranges and any results you have for ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate?

No I can't remember what the test results were i haven't had my thyroid checked since the diagnosis so should i get a another test done then if it is just my thyroid that's causing this

Nathan903,

Thyroid function should be retested 6-8 weeks after every dose adjustment and once stable at least every 12 months. Ask your GP for a thyroid test in case your dose needs raising. Arrange an early morning blood test when TSH is highest and fast (water only) as TSH drops after eating and drinking.

Ask your GP receptionist for a printout of your results 2-3 days later and post them in a new question for advice.

Leave 24 hours between your last dose of levo and your blood test. Take it after.

In the mean time be kind to yourself and just do gentle exercise. If your levels are low you probably aren't making enough T3 to sustain the exercise as you possibly aren't taking enough T4 to covert. Swimming, walking fine in the interim.
