The Friday dog post. Be prepared!

This week I've largely learnt that even a doctor that seems good will let you down. I asked the tests to be performed, he told me. Blood draw with the nurse and ask the same question only to find that the dear had included a celiac test. With no questions in the consultation re diet he just assumed and very obviously hadn't read my file. And what was worse I couldn't stop the test. But hey ho he actually asked me what outcome I was looking for in the consultation...

You should always be able to stop a test before it is done. To carry on testing without your permission could be construed as an assault in law, I think.

I told the nurse not to fill that phial but she said she had to continue and I repeated no. Who knows whether they carried on or not? I got the impression from her that I was not the one in charge. Relatively small beer on this occasion but worrying for their attitude to informed consent and testing procedures. But she knew all about thyroid testing. So often we get the seemingly awful next to something hopeful.

Yes following all investigations on advice of gastro. I have always known that it was an issue, together with dairy, but hoped that the testing would have this always on my notes. I now worry about hosipatals and care homes as not only do I have to get my dissicated Thyroid I have to stop them poisoning me with gluten and dairy. Ha ha such happy Friday thought!
