Why are you thinking of stopping ? What natural product are you considering ? - is there one ?

No information on your Profile or any previous posts - so it is difficult to give advice 😊

Long-term use can weaken the bones and cause cardiac arrest....I might try start using kelp seaweed and Bladder Wrack.

Sorry I do not think that is the case. Please tell me where you found this information. If you have Hashimotos kelp is not a good idea I have read.

The heart is often affected by LOW T3 so important to have good levels. Google - heart and low T3 syndrome.

Do you have recent results with ranges to share ?

Long term over-medication can do that, not correct use. Correct use simply replaces what your body can no longer make. Seaweed of whatever variety contains no thyroid hormone and if you have hashimotos will simply burn out your thyroid faster, accelerating the slow, painful death you would be heading towards without sufficient thyroid hormone in your body.

Sorry if that sounds gloomy, but it is factual, there is no non-animal alternative to supplementing thyroid hormone of whatever form - all the brands of t4, t3 and ndt.

Iodine cannot replace hormones. But what it can do is make you a whole lot sicker! That is really a very, very bad idea. I don't think you know enough about thyroid to even attempt stopping your levo.

Long-term use of levo does not weaken bones or cause cardiac arrest. Whoever told you that knows nothing about thyroid. It isn't a drug, it's just a hormone, and as such, necessary for life.

If that's your only reason for wanting to stop levo, it isn't a valid one. However, if you're saying that levo doesn't suit you, or make you feel well, then we can discuss the whys and the wherefores. But, by stopping your levo and trying seaweed, you would be seriously endangering your health and no-one will condone that.

If so, you might well die with heart disease and dementia as you won't have any thyroid hormones, which are needed by your entire body. Here's a basic idea of what used to happen before thyroid meds were discovered: hindawi.com/journals/jtr/20...

Yes, iodine and seaweed might be appropriate if you have an iodine deficiency with a goitre, but that's pretty rare these days.

There is no more natural treatment than replacement hormones, although you might feel better with a desiccated thyroid product containing all the hormones (like Nature throid or WP Thyroid) or a combination T4 and T3 rather than just thyroxine (T4).
