Probiotics advice - hyper/ graves / endo appt

Hi,

I have Graves disease and am on my second round of treatment for hyperthyroidism with Carbimazole.

My digestion is suffering again and I was hoping other members might have some advice on good probiotics or other things to support my digestion.

I've been gluten free for about 4 years now which has been a life changing improvement. I only have a dash of skimmed milk in tea, although cheese etc is fine, milk is unpleasant if I have too much.

I have tried Opti-bac with saccromyces boulaari (don't know how to spell it!) And drinking whole leaf aloe vera which seemed to make a small improvement before.

Does anyone have a product they would recommend trying?

I'm seeing the endo next week after a 4 month wait and I'm wondering if they might be able to prescribe anything, although I have exceptionally low expectations of the appointment from past experience.

Hiya Manz

Sometimes, people log in and only go so far back so things get missed.

I'm not really good with stomach issues as mine all cleared up after GF and nothing had ever worked before so don't know what to suggest in terms of things that can alleviate. All I know is natural yoghurt and quinoa are the things that make my tummy the happiest and processed stuff and sugar make it grumpiest lol. Oh and melon makes it downright inhospitable for some odd reason? More water or lemon squeezed in hot water water always helps settle me?

Some people have additional more minor food intolerances so you could possibly try a six week elimination diet to check for any?

Otherwise, just post again a little earlier in the eve and just put digestion stuff in title - don't know if will work but figure many here are less knowledgeable on graves and might be more likely to pass a post they think require knowledge on graves if that makes any sense lol??? I could be talking complete nonsense mind you lol :-D

Have you tried Yakult the probiotic drink? That might help. It may also improve immune system so I've been told. Just started trying it today as I'm prone to chest infections.

Hi Purple64,

I haved Yakult previously but felt no improvement, plus they contain added sugar which contributes to my headaches and stomach upsets. If I find anything else that works I will let you know 😄

Hi Manz123, that's a shame. They do a light one does that have the same effect? That would be good thanks.
