This is a very interesting article that I thought the group might find helpful.

Hypothyroidism and Glycogen Deficiency
Nice one, Dante!
There is so much conflicting information out there, and most doctors haven't got a clue about diet/nutrition. I guess finding the right balance is the key. I thought the article was good, just wish it provided a list of metabolically digestible carbs.
Hi, This is interesting thanks, I'd not heard of it before and googled for a list of digestible carbs...seems it suggests you subtract the grams of dietary fibre from the total carbs in a serving of food (if it has a label!) It mentions the The USDA Food Database, so maybe they have some already worked out? Seems there's some fors and againsts of the accuracy, due to how the different fibres are absorbed...as you say there's so much out there and hard to know who to listen to, but def. agree these low fat/low carb diets are not good, so the article makes sense!
Good article, thanks!
While it's a thought provoking read - where's the evidence for any of what they've said? Do we really need glycogen stores? Is that really why T3 levels drop on a low carb diet or are they just putting forward their opinion? Because you know, that's what Ancel Keys did around the whole "eating fat gives you heart disease" thing, and look how that ended up.
I'm starting to feel like I can't trust any of the info I read online. How do we sift through the good and bad information? No one really seems to understand why we get fat. But there are lots of theories, aren't there? I think the best you can do for yourself is to keep trying different plans until you find one that works for you.
Jazz my friend, there is only so much time in a year... I do agree with you, that there are so many different points of view out there, but my goodness, there has to be (I say wishfully) a better way than this trial and error cycle that seems to be plaguing the majority of us, and not just thyroid sufferers. I have been on so many different eating/supplement plans, that my #$%^ can be turned into a profitable fertilizer
Anyway, I just provided the article for information's sake, but I always welcome the feedback of my fellow HU members.
Just saying
