Hi emilylouise

I don't feel an 'expert' but, to me, I would definitely suggest you are under treated. Your TSH is clearly creeping up, as is your FT3 & 4 creeping down.

On treatment, your TSH should be 1.0 or below and I would expect your FT4 to be in the upper part of the normal range and FT3 to be somewhere around at least mid-range.

If your GP insists your symptoms are to do with Fibromyalgia, I would suggest you ask him to check your Vit B12, Folate, Ferratin and Vit D levels. When you get the results (assuming your GP obliges) don't just accept being told 'all is normal' but post results on the PAS forum here if any of them are towards the lower end of the range, just in case there is something that can be improved on that side of things. Fybromyalgia can be misdiagnosed and be due to B12 deficiency, Folate deficiency can give similar symptoms too etc etc etc. ;)

Doctors are just so annoying and ignorant too often re Thyroid issues, B12/Folate deficiency, unfortunately ;)

Check your vitamin D levels have improved. If GP only giving you 800iu it might not be enough.

Folate is a better form of folic acid. A good vitamin B complex would give you this.

Your doctor is using TSH to adjust your thyroxine dosage and not looking at your T3 and T4 levels and symptoms which is a common error GPs make. You are under medicated and need your thyroxine dose raising. Lots of us have low or suppressed TSH when taking thyroid meds. Search on this forum for suppressed TSH to learn more. It's no wonder you feel so unwell with those low hormone levels. You should aim for T3 and T4 levels in the upper end of the ranges. Also ask for vitamin levels to be checked. B12 Folate vit D and ferritin.

If you search for a post I did showing a graph of TSH vs free T4 it shows that lots of people have suppressed TSH with normal free T4. It also has a link to the paper. You could print this off and show your GP

You haven't put ranges but your ferritin also looks very low, should be mid range which is usually about 70. You should take about. 80-100mg of ferrous fumerate (or try ferrous byglicinate if you can't tolerate fumerate) with 1000mg vit c to aid absorption and reduce the constipation effects of iron.

Your ferritin is too low, by the looks of things, so it might be an absorption issue. Your thyroxine should be increased not decreased.

thank you i just wish my GP agreed - so frustrating !!!

My ferritin has been low in the past and I took iron and C to see if it helps. I think it has. As for thyroxine I would ask your GP to trial you on an increase to see if it helps your symptoms. Tell him/her how it's impacting on your life.

thank you all for your input x i just have to convince my GP - he insists i should take 75 one day and 100 the next --- ( iv decided to take 100 levo everyday now ) xxx

Shouldn't have reduced dose based on June 2016 bloods as both Ft4 and Ft3 were nowhere near the top quarters of their ranges. TSH really doesn't matter once you are on meds. You actually needed an increase back then and desparately need one now. It might be a good idea to get a copy of the Pulse article from louise.roberts@thyrodiuk.org.uk to show your doctor. It explains that some people need suppressed TSH and even over range FT4 in order to feel well and that's fine as long as T3 is not over range. Or you need to change your doctor as this one doesn't know much about thyroid.
