Please tell me I am worrying over nothing....

Hi. So I've been on 175 mcg of Levo for two months. I saw my endo on Friday who has swooped it for a tablet that's 100mcg Levo combined with 20mcg T3.

I was going to split the tablets and ease myself in gently but I'm now away on holiday and after a very rushed bag swop I've only got the Eurhyral with me.

So, yesterday and today I've had one in the morning but I'm getting myself into a panic that it's going to make me feel bad and I feel a bit scared.

Please tell me I'm being stupid. Or do I have good reason to have this fear??

Just take your previous dose of 175mcg of Eurthyral and wait till you get home. If you are short of Eurthyral see if your GP can fax a prescription to a pharmacist for what you need..

It's my 175mcg of Levo I don't have and I don't have a prescription for it anymore....

I just have the Eurthyral with me.

Go to a local pharmacist (levo reduces slowly so it lasts longer than T3) and explain the situation. He or you should phone your GP who could email a prescription to pharmacist or pharmacist may be willing to give you levothyroxine.

My apologies I searched Euthyral and it showed levothyroxine first I assumed it was levothyroxine alone. I'm glad that Clutter has put you right.

Gosh please no apology! I'm grateful your helping 😊

I'm hoping I'm just in a slight panic for no reason at all!

Zuzka,

If you've not felt bad after taking a tablet yesterday and the day before what have you to be scared about?

T3 in Euthyral can raise pulse and heart rate 1-2 hours after ingestion but it will usually drop to normal within another hour or so. If you find it uncomfortable split the tablet into two doses 8-12 hours apart to spread the T3.

Ok so if yesterday and today I've not had a racing heart etc I should be fine??

I don't know why I'm getting myself worked up!

Just panicking a bit 😢

Can I just confirm....as I am a worrier....that in theory if I've had no adverse effects yesterday or today I should be good? As in it doesn't take time to build up in my system and then make me feel bad?

Sorry 😬

Zuzka1,

I think you'll be fine. It is very unlikely that the 20mcg T3 in Euthyral will ever build up enough to over medicate you as FT3 3.7 is very low.

This refers to Cytomel (T3):

When pharmacists fill prescriptions for Cytomel, however, they often give patients a leaflet that makes the safety of T3 perfectly clear. Verbatim, the leaflet reads: "NO COMMON SIDE EFFECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED with the proper use of this medicine." (Medi-Span, Inc.: Database Version 97.2. Data 1997.) When used with reasonable precaution, T3 is perfectly safe.
