I'm finding the same problem, weight's creeping up and changes in eating don't do anything. I haven't had weight issues for 15 years since I started weight lifting.
Have you any bloods with ranges you can post? Doctors seem to think if you are in range you are fine but it's where in the range that matters. You may simply need meds increasing or they may show up other problems you should be aware of.
You job may not be helping either as when not adequately medicated you could use up your T3 more quickly and so then feel really rubbish. Try to conserve as much energy as you can till you get sorted.
Eltroxin is a thyroid hormone (thyroxine aka T4). Thyroid hormones are essential for life.
Presumably you have been prescribed Eltroxin because your own thyroid is unable to make the amount of thyroid hormone that your body and brain needs in order to function properly.
It is unlikely you can simply come off thyroid hormone. Weight gain and being unable to lose weight are typical symptoms of thyroid hormone imbalance.
It is possible that you would benefit from taking a higher amount of thyroxine, or by adding the other thyroid hormone liothyronine (T3) to your thyroid medication regime. To find this out, you first need a blood test to get your thyroid hormone levels checked.
My doctor gets me to go for a blood test done nearly every 3 months because the dosage does need adjustment. It is very rare that I am on the same dosage for long, just as everyone has said. I too gain weight but now have it sort of under control.
