bloods not to be rechecked for another 2 weeks
Andypandy30,
No, don't increase. On 100mcg FT4 is top of the range and TSH is suppressed so you will become over medicated if you increase.
Andypandy30
serum free t4 level 21.8 pmol/L. (12-22 pmol/L)
Tsh level 0.06 mlU/L (0.27-4.2 mlU/L)
Serum folate 7.5ug/L (4.6-18.7ug/L)
Vitb12 383 ng/L (300-600).
I agree with Clutter, don't increase.
Optimise your B12 and folate, find out what your Vit D is and optimise that. You should find a difference.
Thank you both . Ok, I just cannot understand what is going on but I have felt slightly better since taking my levo . As I am on an anti d and propanol I take first thing and was getting my b12 inj today at clinic I didn't get taking it until 3 I feel slight improvement but I know it won't last . This is just the second b12 inj so don't know if they're successful yet . What form of folate please ? and can I go ahead and take d3 while waiting on private testing I have Holland and Barrett here x
Andypandy30 You need a B Complex when taking B12 to balance all the B vitamins. Thorne Basic B is a good one and contains 400mcg methylfolate and that will raise your folate level, that's all you'll need.
Don't take any D3 until you have tested and know your level. And I wouldn't recommend H&B own brand anyway, full of rubbish, unwanted, unnecessary ingredients. Buy a decent softgel that contains only D3 and olive oil like Doctors Best, but you won't know what strength until you know your current level.
I will do anything to get energy back xx
I am on an anti d and propanol
Andypandy30, Propranolol inhibits conversion of T4 to T3, that's why it's given to people with hyperthyroidism.
So whilst you have high FT4 and supressed TSH, you may have low FT3 and that would make you feel awful.
Oh my thank u . What on earth! Ok so I had gone hyper before and developed anxiety doc put me on propranolol . This is going to be hard to come off . I specifically asked for t3 to be done and it wasn't . So what do I do if I'm not converting because of the propranolol .
I think you need to talk with your doctor about coming off the propranolol asap. Depending on the dose you're on, you may be able to come off it immediately, or may need to taper it down gradually. It's worth remembering too that low thyroid levels can also cause anxiety.
It's very hard (almost impossible) to get FT3 tested on the NHS now. You might consider doing your own private test. Lots of members here use Medichecks and Blue Horizon finger prick test kits. Info here thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/testin...
Red apple clutter and seaside susie thank you for your advice I am determined to sort this as my daughter deserves me to be well and I have been trying so hard . I agree that my downfall was when I went hyper and not picked up by doctor and started on an anti d and the propranolol for anxiety . I didn't feel like this previously though which has worried me it's just been from Christmas . So could my body just start to react o the propranolol by not converting as I def feel worse in last 4 months brain fog poor coordination numbness in arms and legs generalised weakness and extreme fatigue . I don't want the fibro or me label I want to be well . Such a pity we have not got competent doctors to help us do that!!
