Smelly Urine?

Hi I have been referred for the test for an under active thyroid. I'm really hoping I get a positive outcome so that it provides an explanation for the way I've been feeling and I can get the required treatment.

My question is.. before diagnosis did any of you suffer from a really foul smelling urine?

Kingy123 I certainly didn't.

Foul smelling urine can be caused by a urinary tract infection. Why not pop an early morning sample in to your surgery and ask them to test it.

Do you take any medication or supplements? Sometimes these can cause it.

Do you drink plenty of water so you're not dehydrated?

If urine is smelling like wet straw/hay, and/or like you are standing in a barnyard, sounds like a UTI. Quick urinalysis can confirm and strong antibiotics will clear it right up.
